Box Office: Desi Boyz Takes Extremely Mixed Opening!

Desi Boyz, the comedy starring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone & Chitrangda Singh, directed by Rohit Dhawan, took an extremely mixed response at the box office, as some centres were 50% whereas other few were 90%. The movie got released 2 days in advance in USA and it collected $ 200,000 in 2 days (Wed $ 84,000, Thu $ 116,000). The multiplexes in North recorded decent collections on Friday as it fetched around 50% occupancy. Notably, the single screens were better even though the movie was meant for multiplexes – Akshay Kumar’s popularity with the masses could be the reason behind that. Many felt that the 2nd half was not as entertaining as the first half. However, audience, in general, seem to like the movie and that may result in an upward trend in the weekend figures. As for the previous major release Rockstar, collections dropped heavily in the 2^nd week and it ended up collecting only 14 crores, taking its 10 day total to 62 Crores nett.
