Talaash starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee and directed by Reema Kagti opened to good reviews and good box office numbers (almost 30 crores in 2 days, says trade pundits) on last Friday. It’s celebration time for the cast and crew. Nowadays it’s rare to have critical acclaim and box office recognition together at the same time since most of the hit movies are trashed by critics. So Kareena Kapoor, who plays an extremely important role in the movie should be happy about the success of the movie.
For Kareena Kapoor, it’s her first hit post her recent marriage to Saif Ali Khan. So the success of Talaash is extremely important to her. Married heroines can’t give hits – that’s an age old belief in Bollywood and Kareena is happy that she could change the perception of the Industry people. Moreover, her recent solo film Heroine, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar failed to live up to the expectations even though it was a moderate success. So Kareena was badly in need of a Hit and looks like Talaash is the answer to her prayers.
Being a suspense drama, Talaash was never expected to open big at the box office. For the same, the makers didn’t promote the movie well enough fearing it would backfire. It looks like that strategy has worked in favor of the film at the box office. After a 14.5 crore day 1 opening, the collected close to 16 crores on Saturday. And it looks like Talaash will fetch good boxoffice collection in the first week itself.
Kareena Kapoor with husband Saif Ali Khan after their marriage
Interestingly, neither Kareena Kapoor nor her husband Saif Ali Khan have seen the movie yet. Kareena was busy with other assignments on the day of the premiere. Now she wants to watch it only with Saif Ali Khan. He’s is in Lucknow currently shooting for Tigmanshu Dhulia’s movie Bullet Raja. The couple is planning to watch it as soon as Saif returns from Lucknow. And Saif wants to throw a party for Kareena Kapoor for the success of the movie and the appreciation she received for her performance as a street side hooker called Rosy in the movie.
