Supreme Court Frees Madhur Bhandarkar From 2009 Rape Case
Madhur Bhandarkar can finally heave a sigh of relief. It’s been a difficult journey for the National Award winning film maker in last couple years since he was accused of rape by an upcoming actress Preeti Jain in 2009. In her complaint, Preeti accused that the filmmaker raped her multiple times promising to give a role in his movie. Bhandarkar got bail on a bond of Rs. 30,000 and two sureties in last November and the court had stayed the criminal proceedings against Bhandarkar in April, 2012.
“I am so relieved right now, words cannot express how I feel. I was in the corridor when the verdict was announced. I was numb.” Madhur Bhandarkar told the media after the verdict.
Preeti Jain reportedly told SC that she was not interested in pursuing the matter any further against Madhur Bhandarkar.
With that, the Heroine film maker can finally move on in life.
