Bang Bang further fell down on 7th day collecting 8.23 crore nett. With that, Bang Bang has collected 128.03 crore nett in India. The movie is fast approaching the 150 crore mark and it will be able to become the 2nd biggest grosser of 2014 beating Ajay Devgn-Kareena Kapoor starer Singham Returns (141 crore nett in India). Salman Khan’s Kick is the biggest grosser of the year collecting more than 200 crore nett in India (233 crore exactly).

The movie crossed 100 crore mark in India in first 5 days. Right now, it’s the 3rd highest grosser of 2014 behind Kick & Singham Returns. Also, it beat Salman Khan’s Jai Ho & Akshay Kumar’s Holiday to take the 3rd position on the list. Since Tuesday was a non-Holiday, there was a significant drop in collections as expected. The chances are high for the movie to beat Ajay Devgn-Kareena Kapoor starer Singham Returns to become the 2nd biggest grosser of the year.
The big budget action flick Bang Bang starring Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif got released on October 2nd. On the same day, another film, though not a biggie, got released – Shahid Kapoor & Shraddha Kapoor starer Haider, which is ace director Vishal Bharadwaj’s 3rd Shakespearan adaptation set in Kashmir. Bang Bang is the official remake of Hollywood hit ‘Knight and Day’ starring Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz. Though these two movies are as different as chalk and cheese, their clash made huge news. Fans voted for Haider when we conducted a poll to find the audience favorite. Bang Bang is a crowd-pleaser with enough number of adrenalin pumping action sequences, whereas Haider is a film meant for class audience in the metros. Obviously, Bang Bang had an upper hand at the box office especially since it got released in 4200 screens in India (another 800 in overseas markets). At the same time, Haider had mere 1200 screens in India! So, everyone thought that Haider makers were not being smart to release their indie film with a biggie like Bang Bang.
Hrithik Roshan & Katrina Kaif starer Bang Bang is doing really well at the box office. The action film benefited big time with the strategic released date where it got 5 days long extended weekend, which is very rare! Despite having competition from Shahid Kapoor’s Haider, Bang Bang has managed to come up with a good total. It collected 94.13 crore nett in India in first 4 days (Thurs-Sunday)! Given Monday is also a Holiday (Bakrid), it is expected to easily cross the 100 crore mark on 5th day! As for the gross figure, it collected 134.47 crore in India after 4 days.
Hrithik Roshan – Katrina Kaif starer action flick Bang Bang has done excellent business at the Indian box office as expected. The movie is the official remake of Hollywood hit ‘Knight & Day’ starring Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz. The movie collected 27.54 crores nett on Day 1 in India. It’s Hrithik Roshan’s biggest opener, beating Krrish 3 which had collected 24.25 crores on day 1. Bang Bang is also the 5th biggest opening day of all time. The first four positions belong to Dhoom 3, Chennai Express, Ek Tha Tiger & Singham Returns. Also, Bang Bang is the 2nd biggest opened in 2014 behind Ajay Devgn – Kareena Kapoor starer Singham Returns.
Though the reviews and word of mouth are not so encouraging, Bang Bang has done really well in all the circuits. It’s done exceptionally well in South Indian circuit. The movie has done huge business across multiplexes in the country. Same can’t be said about single screens as the response was poor in single screens. Bang Bang did best business in Delhi/UP, East Punjab and South India. Mumbai circuit wasn’t up to the mark as the Gujarat/Saurashtra belt didn’t perform well. The same goes for Rajasthan CP Berar and CI.
Vishal Bharadwaj’s 3rd Shakespearean adaptation ‘Haider’ starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan Khan opened to theaters across worldwide yesterday. Despite having tough competition from Hrithik Roshan – Katrina Kaif starer Bang Bang, the movie has managed to survive the tough competition. Despite getting released only in 1200 screens across India, the movie has come up with a decent total. It collected 6.14 crore on day 1. Since the movie was made for a niche audience the collections were expected to be low.
What is impressive about Haider is that it received the best reviews. Moreover, the word of mouth is strong everywhere. Though the movie started on a low note, the collections started picking up towards the evening shows. Considering the word of mouth is good at the multiplexes, the movie is expected to be steady over the long weekend, which will help the movie to come up with an impressive total.

Since the target audience is different for these two films, both should perform well. Bang Bang is already performing well at the box office.
