Dabangg 2 Item Number ‘Fevicol Se’ Ft. Kareena Kapoor & Salman Khan Is a Big Hit!
Hot item numbers have been always been part of Bollywood movies (or Indian movies in general). Women dancing in skimpy clothes has always been a trump card in Indian movies. For one, songs become a Hit before the release of the movie and good part of the promotion is already achieved that way. In Dabangg we had Malaika Arora Khan dancing to the immensely catchy rustic number ‘Munni Badnam Hui’. So a hit item song was expected from Dabangg 2 as well. Instead of cashing in on Munni’s charm, the makers have opted for sizzling Kareena Kapoor for the song.
The song titled ‘Fevicol Se’ was in news right from its shooting days. Kareena Kapoor shot for the song a week after her marriage to Saif Ali Khan. In fact, it was her first assignment post marriage. The creator of ‘Munni Badnam Hui’ and ‘Sheila Ki Jawaani’ Farah Khan was chosen for choreographing the catchy tune by talented music director duo Sajid-Wajid. Kareena Kapoor’s favorite designers Manish Malhotra (who happened to be her best friend & designer of her previous hit looks like ‘Halkat Jawaani’ & ‘Chammak Challo’) designed her clothes for the song. In short, the song was given as much coverage and importance as the movie itself.
‘Fevicol Se’ was launched last week on the reality show Bigg Boss 6, where Salman Khan is the host. Since then the song has become the talking point. At present the video of the song has 1.4 million views on YouTube.
When asked about the success of the song, Choreographer Farah Khan said, “I am very happy. I do very few songs in a year and I normally choose. Last time as well I heard the songs of Dabangg and chose Munni badnaam, but this time Arbaaz (Khan) had already picked Fevicol se for me,”
“I feel happy because we work really hard. Kareena has worked specially hard because she is just doing an item number. I always give steps that everyone can do, parents and kids all,” she added.
Asked which is her favourite, Munni or Fevicol se, she said: “If you tell me to choose between my daughters Diva or Anya, how can I?”
The director of the movie Arbaaz Khan (he’s Salman Khan’s younger brother) was also happy about the response to the song, he said “The song is fantastic and she has done a superb job in it. The response is overwhelming. It was a mutual consensus and creative call to have Kareena do it.”
As for his wife Malaika Arora Khan’s presence in the movie, he said “Malaika is there in the film. She has a special appearance in ‘Pandey ji’ song”
